An Introduction
Most of the ground floor is a wall that slides away, so the living room and the terrace behave like one room for the whole week you're here. Above it, five bedrooms share a balcony in the canopy. Two more sit at the top under the pitch of the roof, close enough to the trees that you'll hear them before you're properly awake. The teak, the joinery and the hand-carved pieces came over from Bali. The jungle was already here.
It's in the village rather than hidden above it — a gate, a short walk to the beach road, and then the sand.

The Villa
Nobody has to share, and nobody has to cross a hallway at 2am. The bathrooms are green plaster and stone basins.
Two families, a group of friends, or a small retreat. The house was built for the larger number, not squeezed into it.
Out the gate, left along the beach road, onto the sand. Flat the whole way. There's a board rack by the front door.
Breakfast and dinner with Chef Oliver are included with nightly rate.. Groceries are selected and purchased separately.
Restaurants, surf shops and studios are in the village. Santa Teresa is ten minutes up the road when you want more.
Ground Floor
Kitchen, dining and living run together under a single vaulted ceiling, and the wall along the terrace slides away. Once it's open, nobody bothers closing it again until the last night.
The long table sits between the kitchen and the open wall, so dinner never really separates from the rest of the evening.
Full-size and properly equipped, with an island people lean on all morning and a line of stools that ends up being where the coffee happens. A chef can work in it without anyone having to leave the room.
A separate room off the main floor with a television and a deep sofa — the cool-down spot after the beach, and the one place in the house you can shut a door on the noise.
The Suites
Five of the seven bedrooms open onto a shared terrace on the second floor, all of them with queen beds and the canopy right there at the railing. The other two sit at the top, under the pitch of the A-frame, and they are the two people quietly compete for. Every room has its own bathroom. The teak and the hand-carved joinery came from Bali; the jungle outside the window did not.

A corner room opening onto the shared terrace over the canopy, with the bed set back into soft plaster and a Balinese teak frame. It also has an adjacent daybed room behind timber slat windows — an extra sleeping nook or a quiet place to read.

The quiet room at the back of the house. A desk under the window, a hand-made Balinese chair pulled up to it, jungle light all afternoon, and the terrace a few steps away.

Suite 05
A white headboard wall, brass sconces and a teak bench at the foot of the bed, shipped in from Bali like the rest — with the floor's most unusual ensuite. Opens to the shared terrace.
The bathrooms
Suites One through Four share the same en-suite: a stone basin on a cast concrete shelf, and a walk-in shower in green plaster behind glass. Suite Five has its own — open to a teak screen and the bamboo beyond.
Third Floor
The whole top floor is one open room: a teak A-frame overhead, rattan pendants hanging into it, and long loungers on either side. There's a kitchenette along the back wall and a balcony that opens straight into the canopy, which is why people come up here and stay longer than they meant to.
Mornings it's the practice space — mats out, fans on, jungle on three sides. By evening the daybeds fill up and it turns into the place where cards, drinks and the long conversations happen, well above the street.

Most groups end up practising on the top floor, under the gable. The first-floor terrace works in the early heat, the pool deck in the late afternoon. Across a week people tend to use all three.
The rooftop lounge is the one people choose. Instructors and massage therapists come to the house.
Rack your boards by the front door and walk down. Lessons can be arranged; the pool is there for the flat afternoons.
Seven doors that close, one long table everyone comes back to. That's most of what a group actually needs.
Birthdays and milestone trips work well here, mostly because the house already opens outward and a chef can cook in it.
